临界值是半张图艺术馆与XYZprojects的合作项目,由艺术家徐悦发起,同时这次项目也作为“地洞”展的对话项目,XYZprojects系列项目关注的是人对建筑的记忆与对城市生活的情感印记。这个项目将针对窗户之外的世界,对大规模现代化进程中的城中村改造项目进行考察,这将关乎到摧毁与重建,是以外力介入还是从内部自发这两种模式之间矛盾的探讨。临界值作为一个可以从地洞的窗口观察到的建筑项目,艺术家徐悦将带领建筑小队前往正对着地洞对面的废墟,使用透明质感的麦芽糖砖块去修补残损的待拆建筑,这种有机生物材料与工业化钢筋水泥的结合探索着建筑的多样性可能。

“酒神说着日神的语言,而日神说着酒神的语言,悲剧就是酒神智慧借助日神艺术手段而达到的形象化”(尼采《悲剧的诞生》)。在诸多因果相连的事物中,最容易被人们忽视的乃是与整体的杂多截然相反的被隐藏的部分,正如地洞出现的原因正是对洞外世界的恐惧,它所对应的是视外界为庞大和不可改变而主张直接向内改造以达到内心满足的禁欲主义,因此地洞所强调的是对内心世界进行整理与调和;而作为它的彼岸,临界值所体现的是通过对物质外界进行改造来达成内在丰盈的状态以及对这种模式的观探。这两个项目合在一起才能体现其各自的完整性,它们内外呼应并且相互进行补充。

最后,由手工堆砌在残缺建筑上的麦芽糖砖块——这一浩大的工程将在风吹日晒中逐渐消融,通过日神式的造物崇拜手段而最终走向对日神冲动本身的怀疑。“临界值”本身所指即是物体从一种物理状态转变到另外一种物理状态时,第一物理量所需满足的条件;在这层意义上,它作为一个连接着相互对立的两种形态(精致的庄严与消融过程中的破败)的通道,聚集了诸多层叠着的矛盾因素:机械与手工、摧毁与修复、坚固与塑化、充实与空乏...本次项目将通过反思经济、城市发展与文化之间的平衡来体现与城中心高楼大厦相对应的这片废墟中的诗意、美与悲的融合以及那种“本来无一物”般的哲思。

THRESHOLD is the cooperation project between HALF IMAGE and XYZprojects launched by artist Xu Yue. At the same time, this project is a dialogue of the exhibition named "Dialogue In The Dark" . XYZprojects focused on the memory of architecture and the emotional imprint of urban life. This project will focus on the world outside the window, and explore the transformation projects of urban villages in the process of large-scale modernization, which will be related to the contradiction between the two modes of destruction and reconstruction, that is, intervention from external force or internal spontaneity. In the construction work, Xu Yue would lead her team to repair damaged buildings in the ruins using a transparent texture of the maltose bricks, which results more possibilities from the combination of organic biological materials and industrial reinforced concrete.

“Dionysus speaks the language from Apollo, and Apollo speaks the language from Dionysus, Tragedy is the visualization that Dionysian wisdom made with the help of Apollo's means”. Among many causal connections, the most easily overlooked is the completely hidden part of the whole complex. The reason for the hole is the fear from outside world, which corresponds to the asceticism that advocates directly inward transformation in order to achieve inner satisfaction instead of the outside angle. Therefore, the emphasis of geocentre is to organize and reconcile the inner world. On the other side, the real intention of the critical value is to achieve inner abundance of the state and the exploration of this model through the transformation of the material outside. Together, these two projects reflect their own integrity, echoed and replenish both internally and externally.

Finally, the malt sugar bricks, piled on handicrafts by hand, would gradually melt away in the wind and sun. It would turn to be the skeptical of the impulse itself eventually by means of Apollo-type creation worship. "Threshold value" refers to the condition that the first physical quantity needs to satisfy when the object changes from one physical state to another physical state. In this sense, it served as a connection channel between two mutually antagonistic forms, that is, exquisite dignity and ablation in the process of abolition, which brought many contradictory factors together including mechanical versus manual, destroy versus repair, solidification versus plasticization, enrichment versus emptines, and so on. In summary, the poetic from ruins corresponding to the high-rise buildings, all the combination of beauty and sadness, and the philosophy of "there is nothing" would be interpreted through this project based on the balance between economic, urban development and culture.
