一直以来在绘画上我都希望不拘泥于一种形式，始终一路追求着自我改变和自我完善。我认为看似简单的绘画其实是美术类型里最难的，要在一个单一小尺寸定格无声平面上打动人心是让人绞尽脑汁的事情。有时想这件事想得鬼迷心窍。或许有时需要一些敢于误入歧途的勇气，才能再出现超越自己的机会。我认为要在画面上寻求改变无疑是两种途径：画什么和怎么画。画什么就是指在原有方法的基础上改变不同的题材内容，怎么画就是指在原有内容的基础上改变方法或媒介。对于第二个问题我选择了尝试，首先是改变材料，随之而来画法也改变了，没想到这个实验产生的效果是超出预期的，一直以来我觉得自己精雕细琢的绘画方法产生的结果是画面的必然性。而换了材料和方法却带来了我向往已久的偶然性效果，我会把实验和新的系列继续研究下去，这也是一种新突破的可能。

自古在大东方文化背景下成长的孩子谁人没有一个幻想中仗剑江湖的侠客梦？这种深刻的文化背景也是深远的影响我们这一代成长的一个重要的情节。我觉得我们这一代成长在90年代的中国的青年人难以忘怀的多少那武侠小说、侠客电影中的缥缈仙踪与十丈红尘。我想用自己的画笔表达出来，人生是一场戏，人生是理想国，人生也可以是武林中的一场醉生梦死的侠客梦。

作者简介：艺术家杜溪，1980年生，学院毕业后就进入职业化艺术家状态十多年，擅长运用油画、雕塑、丙烯等不同种艺术形式创作，作品用传统东方元素符号和当下时代特有的漫画形象结合，诠释这个世代的一种文化特征和时代风貌。近年来致力于艺术形象的跨界和衍生实践，创立个人艺术品牌、主理插画设计公司以及运营个人艺术酒店等商业与艺术结合的项目，现居北京、云南。
Every child who grew up in the Great Eastern culture literally dreamed of becoming a swordsman in the fantasy world of martial arts. The wuxia literature has profound influence on our generation of teenagers in China who were mesmerized by the portrayals of martial arts in wuxia novels and movies. Using my paintbrushes, I aimed to portray that life is a play, a utopia, and an intoxicated dream of a swordsman in the world of wuxia.
My works have not been confined to a certain format all this while. Rather, I have always been pursuing selfreinvention and self-improvement. To me, a seemingly simple painting is actually the most difficult type of art because creating a profound impression in the beholder through a silent, flat medium requires an artist to rack his or her brain for inspiration. Sometimes one needs to take a bold step into the unknown to transcend one’s potential. I believe that there are two ways to seek change in the art of painting: What to paint and how to paint it. “What to paint” refers to finding a new theme to express using a prescribed method; “How to paint” means adopting a new method or medium to express an existing theme. As such, I have chosen the second approach, i.e. to first adopt a new material and a new painting method. These changes have brought an amazing result beyond my expectations. I had always thought that my meticulous drawing methods will yield certain inevitable results in my paintings. However, the change in materials and methods has unexpectedly brought forth the elements of unpredictability which I had been looking for a long time. I will continue to experiment this new series as it may lead to a new breakthrough
