<Follow The Teacher>

In this performance and sculptural-installation-painting, students are led slowly, step-by-step by the teacher with patronizing precision on how to create a scrawled abstract line. The critique within the work is related to a phenomenon within the art education system wherein individual artistic production is institutionalized. For example: an art teacher with their own reputation at stake leads the class to all produce outcome oriented work to serve the teacher’s own purpose, leaving the students’ own artistic expression, personality and identity effectively nullified.
